Climbing Nevado Alpamayo Expedition
The Alpamayo ('Allpa mayu' in Quechua), also locally-known as 'Shuytu rahu' (meaning 'snowy oblong' in Ancashino Quechua), is a summit in the Andes mountain range, located in the north-west of the Cordillera Blanca , within the Huascarán National Park, western Peru.

Day 01: Huaraz (3,100m/10,170ft)– Cashapampa (2,900m/9,514ft) – Llamacorral (3760m/12,335ft)
After breakfast in the hotel, you will board our private bus, and drive along the Callejon de Huaylas, north of Huaraz. Passing by different districts such as: Carhuas (2650m), Yungay (2500m), Caraz city (2250m). We will arrive at Cashapampa around 10am. There, the donkey driver will be waiting for us. Once all the camping equipment geared, we will start hiking up. After about 2h30, we will have lunch. We will continue hiking for 5 to 6h, all the way up to our first camp "Llamacorral", arriving around 4pm. Overnight camping at 3760m.
Day 02: Llamacorral – Base Camp of Alpamayo (4,300m/14,107ft)
Today we will hike along the valley, passing by the turquoise lakes of Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha. We will stop for lunch at the beautiful site of Quisuar. We will then climb up to Alpamayo Base Camp. We will get there early, and prepare our climbing gear for the next day. Overnight camping at 4300m.
Day 03: Base Camp – Moraine Camp Alpamayo (4,800m/15,748ft)
After a nice breakfast, we will start climbing up a rocky path for about 3h to get to Moraine camp. There we will pitch our tents and enjoy breathtaking views over the mountains of Artesonraju, Paria, and Pucajirca (among others). Overnight camping at 4800m.
Day 04: Moraine Camp – Camp 1 (5,550m/18,208ft)
After breakfast, we will hike up to the glacier for about 30min. We will then put our climbing gear to continue our ascent up to Camp 1. We will have dinner in the late afternoon, and rest properly for our early start the next day. Overnight camping at 5550m
Day 05: Camp 1 – Alpamayo summit (5,947m/19,506ft) – Camp 1
We will have an early breakfast, at 2 or 3am in the morning, then start climbing Alpamayo with headlamps. After a 1h hike in the snow, we will get to the base of the wall (Ferrari route), with an inclination of ~75. We will climb for about 2-3h, up to the summit of Alpamayo (5947m/19506ft). After enjoying the breathtaking views of the peaks around, we will safely come down rappelling with the help of our guide. We will get back to Camp 1 around 11-12am, enjoy some nice lunch and rest in the afternoon. Overnight in the glacier at 5550m
Day 06: Camp 1 – Base Camp Arhueycocha (4,300m/14,1076ft)
After breakfast, we will come back the same route down to Moraine Camp. We will continue to walk down to Base Camp, arriving around 3pm. Overnight camping at 4300m.
Day 07: Base Camp – Cashapampa – Huaraz
We will walk back down along the Santa Cruz valley, enjoying one more time the great views of the Jatuncocha and Ichiccocha lakes. Arriving at Cashapampa, where our driver will be waiting for us. We will have a last stop for lunch, and then drive back to Huaraz, arriving around 4pm.
