The Huascarán (6,768m/22,204ft) -meaning 'horonym' in Quechua; also translated as "the snow-covered summit over Huashco village", or "the snow-covered twins" - is the culminating mountain of the Peruvian Andes, with an official altitude of 6768 m a.s.l. according to the last measurement in 2017.

Day 01: Huaraz – Musho – Base Camp of Huascaran (3,800m/12,467ft)

After breakfast in the hotel, you will board our private bus around 7am, and drive along the Callejon de Huaylas, north of Huaraz, until Mancos. After a hour, we will arrive in Mucho, where the donkey driver will be waiting for us to transport our climbing gear. We will hike up for about 4-5h and arrive to Base Camp. Overnight camping at 3800m.

Day 02: Base Camp – Camp 1 of Huascaran (5300m/17,384ft)

After breakfast, we will start hiking up. We will have a challenging 3-hour walk over granite rocks, leading us to the glacier of Huascaran. Then, we will start a 3-hour ascenst up to Camp 1. Up there, we will enjoy breathtaking views over the Cordillera Negra, and "el Escudo de Huascaran' behind which we will watch the sun disappear. Overnight camping at 5300m.

Day 03: Camp 1 – Camp 2 of Huascaran (5950m/19,516ft)

We will have an early breakfast and start climbing at 4am for about 4-5h. If there are other climbers, we will have to pass this zone with avalanche risks a bit faster. We will arrive early at Camp 2 and get some good rest to prepare for the next day. Overnight camping over the glacier at 5950m

Day 04: Camp 2 – Summit Climbing Huascaran (6768m/22,199ft) – Camp 2

We will start climbing Huascaran after breakfast, at midnight. Along the way, we will be able to see the lights of little villages from above, and even Huaraz at some stage. We will witness the sun rising in the Cordillera Blanca, as we get to the summit (6768m) around 10 am. We will enjoy breathtaking views of the white Mountain Range up there. We will then start our way back down to Camp 2, for about 4h, and should arrive around 3-4pm. Overnight camping at 5950m

Day 05: Camp 2 – Base Camp (3,800m/12,467ft)

Around 3am, we will start our way back down to Base Camp. After 2h we will arrive at Camp 1, and we will then continue until the end of the glacier, where we will have some hot drinks. We will continue hiking for 2h until Camp 2. We will have a nice lunch when we arrive, some good rest and then our last dinner together that we will celebrate with some Pisco Sour. Overnight at 3800m.

Day 06: Base Camp – back to Huaraz

After breakfast, we will walk back for about 3 hours, down to Musho, passing by an eucaliptus forest. There our private transport to Huaraz will be waiting for us. Estimated arrival time: 2pm, and then transfert to your hotel.
