Climbing Nevado Yanapaccha
Yanapaccha is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca, with two peaks: a southern one (5,460m/17,913ft) and northern one (5,380m/17,651ft)

Day 1: Huaraz – KM42 – Yanapaccha Moraine Camp (4,900m/16,076ft)
After breakfast in the hotel, you will board our private bus, and drive along the Callejon de Huaylas, north of Huaraz. Passing by different traditional Andean villages, we will make our first stop at Carhuas (2650m), to enjoy a delicious homemade ice-cream. We will continue our bus trip and stop in the ancient town of Yungay, a city that was burried under snow in 1970, following an avalanche in Huascarán Mountain, the New Yungay (2500m). From there, we will head up to the entrance of the Llanganuco Valley, where we will register in the National Huascaran Park Control. We will then have our lunch break at the beautiful lakes of Llanganuco (Chinancocha and Orconcocha). We will continue driving to the KM42. If the weather conditions are good, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the mountain peaks of Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoys, and Chacraraju (among others). After our 4h drive, we will hike for about 3 hours to the Moraine Camp of Yanapaccha. We will check our climbing gear for the next day and enjoy a nice dinner. Overnight camping at 4900m.
Day 2: Moraine Camp – Yanapaccha summit (5,460m/17,908ft) – Moraine Camp
We will have an early breakfast at 3am, and start around 3:30am our 30-minutes ascent over the rocky path to get to the snow section. We will equip ourselves with our climbing gear and reach the Yanapaccha summit after about 3-4 hours (5460m/17908ft). We will enjoy breathtaking views over the mountains of Chacraraju, Pisco, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Contrahiervas, and Huandoys (among others). We will then start our descent to the Moraine Camp. It will take us about 3h, and we will have a nice lunch when reaching the camp. Enjoy a free afternoon to rest before dinner. Overnight camping at 4900m.
Day 3: Moraine Camp – KM42 - Huaraz
After breakfast, we will start our way back down to Curva KM42,our private car will pick us back. We will pass by the same valley of Llanganuco, cross the Huascaran National Park Control, and continue to go down to Yungay, passing the Callejon de Huaylas on the south side. Estimated arrival time in Huaraz: 5pm. Transfer to the hotel.
